Demi-chan wa Kataritai delivers its most beautiful episode yet as its eleventh spectacle is truly something to behold.
The vice-principal tells Takahashi to stop trying so hard and let the Demi-chans rely on someone other than him. This leads to all sorts of thoughts in the kind sensei‘s mind. Is he being a bit too intrusive? Is his excessive help causing the girls to become even more dependent on someone? Is his work having the opposite effect to the one he desires? Would it have been better if they had overcome their issues on their own? Shouldn’t these girls rely on others of the same gender instead? All these thoughts going through his head lead him to distancing himself from the girls a bit.
When Hikari learns about this from Satake, she decides to cheer up him up. They all make a video and send it over to Takahashi. And this is the best part of the entire episode. The girls thank him for all that he’s done for them one by one and tell him that he doesn’t have to worry about being too intrusive because he wasn’t. The scene is so good and it can leave one teary eyed.
Watch as the Demi girls deliver a heartwarming message to their favorite teacher
Through some random nobody students, they also show us that thanks to the demis relying on Takashi, others are also now trying to get to know the demis more. The reason why the girls relied only on Takahashi is that he was the only one interested in them. As was seen with the Machi-centered episode in the beginning for example, other girls tended to avoid discussing dullahans and their problems. But Takahashi wasn’t like that; he took interest in the girls and took time to listen to their problems and even try to solve them. So naturally the girls were drawn to him and started to ask for help from him only for demi-related problems.
With others trying to get to know the demis more, the vice-principal takes his statement from before back and tells Takahashi to continue since it’s having a positive effect on others around him.
This was a brilliant episode. The video message and the following scene of Hikari with Takahashi at the beach were undoubtedly the highlights of the episode. Everything Takahashi did all this time paid off brilliantly here. The presentation was such that it felt like a finale which is not the case since we have another episode left, though we wouldn’t have minded if things had ended with this spectacular display.
For next week we have a swimsuit fanfare episode as Takahashi will help the demis cool down, since handling the heat is difficult for them given their natures. We do hope the fanfare display doesn’t ruin things set up by this spectacle.
